A Very Productive Weekend

Although we are still lacking in the project department, I have been very busy again.

This weekend was my VERY first weekend home while working at my new job. You see, at my old job, I either stayed at my parent's house for the weekend (Friday-Sunday) or I would commute, but pretty much, for the entire time we have owned our home, I have been gone on weekends. My weeks flew by as Monday-Friday morning were "at home" and Friday night through Sunday were "at work". I loved seeing my horses and family most weekends, but to be honest, I didn't know how badly I wanted to be home.

This last week, I worked more days than usual and made two trips to my parent's and STILL I felt like I had so much time at MY home.

It. Is. Great.

Then on Saturday I confirmed our wedding venue
--- trust me, this has been the hardest part of wedding planning thus far!----

Afterward, my mom and I went antiquing and decided to pop into a little bridal boutique we had been in once before. I had only tried on one dress the other time because it was right at closing, but we thought we should take a second look. I perused the dresses, but I wasn't particularly struck by any one-- pretty typical for miss picky, AKA, me.

Then, while talking, I mentioned a dress I had seen in the window and they asked if I wanted to try it on. I almost said no, but then I saw the 50% off tag and said, "Ok, what the heck".

Low and behold, that is the dress I came home with. The second dress I tried on. Period.

I walked out and my mom started crying and saying, "Yep, that's it, that's the one" and although I loved it, I wasn't 100% sure since it was only the second dress I tried on. My mom on the other hand, was convinced. To her, it was destiny. We happened to walk by, we happened to glance at it, it happened to be the only one, 50% off, in my EXACT size, and it is a Demetrio's gown--the EXACT brand she ALWAYS points to in every bridal magazine.

We bought the dress that afternoon and I cried worrying I was choosing it because she liked it more than me. She agreed that it was a impulse buy, but we decided to sleep on the decision and see how I felt the next day. She also agreed, if I did find a better dress that we could sell this one (she even joked that we can probably get more for it than we paid).

Later that night I looked at photos over and over and realized this is the dress for me. The style is totally different than what I had in mind, but I think it will all come together really well.

Now to hide my big pink bag from Brandon... turns out he didn't know the groom doesn't see the dress beforehand haha! He just thought the "day of" was a surprise!

  1. Congrats on booking your wedding venue and finding your venue! Don't look at anymore dresses now...you'll keep rethinking your decision. :)
