Where does the time go?

I feel like I am becoming an old woman these days. Like seriously. I am sitting here scrolling through my morning blogs and I find myself saying, "Caitlin, you need to get your chores done before you can play" and it even sounds like my mom's voice in my head... Seriously? Have I gotten that behind?!

Not only that, but I'm also finding that more and more often I am driving around or watching movies and I catch myself saying things like "Oh, aren't those hydrangeas just lovely?" or "That house is amazing" rather than, "Wow, check out that stud jogging down the street!"---at least Brandon doesn't complain about me overlooking that last part.

I just have to laugh at how much owning a home has been helping me grow up. It is amazing what a new project can do for a creative soul. I couldn't believe that just the other week we had owned our home for a year--- of course, we totally kicked ourselves for letting the day come and go without celebrating! Fortunately, we happened to be having a friend's over a week later for a fun night so, we can call that our celebration... after all, I am twenty-one and just graduated college, I'm entitled to a fun night here and there!

LOOK we even snapped a few pictures of our elusive and mysterious roommate, Garrett:

Although we missed the chance to totally just kick back and bask in the glory on the day of our one year anniversary of becoming homeowners, I have to still admit that I have had so much fun in the last year, painting, planning, learning, and sharing.

I feel like I'm getting a little sappy here... kinda like how watching the movie "Valentine's Day" last night made me start crying nearly hysterically near the end. Like. Seriously. It was as fast as the drop of a hat and I was off, blubbering my little eyes out while Brandon looked at me like I had just given birth to an alien or something. Of course, I immediately started laughing at myself while crying so it turned into a messy laugh, cry, sniffle mess, but I couldn't help myself! The movie was just so darn adorable!

But back to the topic of our home.

I was saying recently that I'm a little back-logged on projects, but I am trying to catch up. Which is why I am so excited to be possibly taking a day off work this weekend to stay home with my man and conquer some MUCH needed projects that he said we have to finish before we can start any big projects like a kitchen or bath remodel (both of which we have been saving up for!) and so we DEFINITELY need to get these other "small" projects done!

This last weekend I wound up practically living at my work as I pulled three closing shifts in a row and worked a 12 hour day on Father's Day. I thought only Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, and Christmas Season were the ones that could suck the life out of you. Nope. I was wrong.

I totally dropped the ball on getting a gift for my dad, but I figured that during my break I'd clean out their REALLY messy garage. However, my break went from a three hour break to a 45 minute break when my coworker called in sick and I had to return.

So, I stayed at my parent's an extra day and spent four hours cleaning out the garage. Although it doesn't look amazingly different in the pictures, in person it was very different.

I took it from this:

To this:

Happy Belated Father's Day!
