Tackling The Closet

Our downstairs closet is basically just a "toss it in there and close the door" kind of space because originally, we figured our roomie would totally pick the room with the walk in closet, but instead he went for the room with the average closet that faces the street.

I have dreams of one day affording to build into our massive attic space to make a craft room (we all know I LOVE my projects), but in the meantime, all my craft and scrapbooking supplies have been taking over the downstairs closet; particularly in the last few hectic weeks.

The other night I found myself on the floor happy as can be making thank you cards for everyone after my graduation party and I realized I need my own space to work.

With a little help from inspirational closet-turned-offices like this from Young House Love I think we can make my own mini-craft room.

I couldn't help but think of how fun it will be to make this closet into my own little mini office (although much larger than the one in the photo!) until we can move into the attic after some SERIOUS saving.

So, for now I am being brutal and not only organizing, but ruthlessly purging as well! We plan on having a big multi-family yard sale with a ton of stuff from our families before too long, so I'm getting a head start on getting the stuff together.

Of course I did get a little distracted seeing my old prom dresses (yes, the ones I need to sell!) and I couldn't help but see if it still fits... which then led to a happy dance when it did!

Keep your eyes open for more posts on our progress on this project, it should be fun!

  2. Caitlin,

That will be such a neat little space! I found your blog from The Lettered Cottage and am hooked! I love that you guys are a young, fun couple! And I adore that prom dress! :)

  3. Oh, I love closet-turned-office makeovers! That sounds like alot of fun. :) We're about to begin our own closet makeover (due to coming home to find the clothes rod snapped in two and our clothes spilling everywhere!) but I don't think it will be nearly as fun as yours will.

    Love your blog, btw!
