It's sprouting.

These are just some of the bulbs and seeds I've purchased for my springtime garden overhaul:

(From Lowes, Home Depot, Costco, and OSH)

I decided to try my hand after forcing bulbs after reading a tutorial here on Young House Love (which is a WAY awesome blog if you haven't dropped in yet!)

---keep in mind most bulbs require 4-6 weeks of chilly weather to grow, so storing bulbs in an unheated garage or outdoors is a good idea before forcing!

As you can see, my tulips and hyacinth bulbs are sprouting quite well, and if the rain would go away and let the sun shine they'd be doing even better!

Costco also had some bare-root roses for $16.89 that were pretty darn cool!

Maybe by summer I'll have some awesome Dahlias like these from the restaurant where I work!

Happy gardening!
(at least for those who have avoided this rainstorm!)

  1. I can't wait to see how these turn out for you. I saw the post on YHL with Paperwhites and LOVED it. The only reason why I didn't try it for myself is that Paperwhites are poisonous to cats. Curious ones, especially :) I know that Dahlias are not and they are one of my favorite flowers. I love Peonies and Hyacinth, too! Good luck and keep us updated!

  2. Thank you! I will definitely be posting many pics of my flower beds when the sun actually decides to shine!
